All foreign visitors desiring to enter Switzerland must have a valid passport. Depending on your citizenship, the stability of that country and the duration and reasons for your stay you may need to obtain a visa before coming to Switzerland.

Time needed to apply for your visa:
Foreign participants should contact the Swiss Embassy, Consulate, or Office of Tourism in their home country as soon as possible to determine their particular visa requirements. It can take from a few days to two months to process a visa application, depending on whether further investigation is necessary in the Switzerland. In exceptional cases, an investigation will take longer than two months. If you are travelling to the Schengen Area for the first time, you should certainly apply for your visa in good time to make sure that you can travel on the dates you planned.
